Listed in 1850 census as 65 years old, owning $200 of real estate, born in SC, worked as a farmer. According to Phillips Family Record, he was a doctor and "could cure cancer, but no one seemed to have known that this was unusual and did not preserve his formula." He is also listed in the 1860 census, working as a shoemaker.

2. "SQUIRE" GEORGE PHILLIPS (ABRAHAM BENTON) was born Oct. 17, 1816 in Tennessee, & died Dec. 15, 1903/1905. He married MARY EVERETTE aft. 1831. She was born Jan. 4/14, 1820 in Yazoo, Mississippi, & died Jan. 31, 1894.
"Squire" George lived on a farm and was a wagon maker.
He was buried at Plowman's Cemetery in Apison, Tenn., beside his wife, M.E. Phillips. He is said to have lived to see all of his children married.
Mary's parents were said to have been English. She was buried at Plowman Cemetery, Apison, TN. The 1880 Hamilton County, Tenn. Census lists a Mary Philips as age 56, married to George Philips, with children: Joseph L., 21; Tennessee, 19; Mary Taylor, 14; Billy, 16.

She was born Sept. 26, 1841 in Philadelphia, Loudon County, Tennessee, & died Jan. 17, 1926 in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee. Isaac Phillips was the youngest half brother of "Squire" George Phillips. He is listed on the 1850 census, working as a farmer.
Agnes's father died without forgiving her for marrying Isaac. Agnes went to live with her mother when Isaac died. Agnes was buried on Jan. 18, 1926, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Bradley County, Tennessee. They are said to have lost 3 children.

Lewis is listed on the 1880 Census living in James County, Tennessee, per Alice. Lewis was killed during the Civil War.

"George was a preacher - probably not affiliated with any major church but he was attending the Sale Creek Church of God during his later years. He was also blind by that time - I got this from someone who knew him and said he was a 'great, kind man'."

"Lizzie was married twice - her first husband must have been significantly older but they did have a couple of children. My grandmother & all of her sisters were mortally terrified of storms. Beyond reason . . . Grandma (Verdie) said that her mother (Lizzie) was so scared of storms that whenever it would cloud up & threaten to rain she would grab all the kids & run to the storm cellar."

17. MARY LADUSKA "AUNT MOLLIE" PHILLIPS (ABRAHAM, ABRAHAM BENTON) was born Nov. 26, 1858 in Tennessee, & died bef. 1965. She married (1) THOMAS "TOM" EPLURIBUS FRANKLIN JEFFERSON HARREL abt. 1877. He was born aft. 1820, & died abt. April 1892 in spring. She married (2) BUFORD FORBES aft. 1892. He was born bef. 1890, & died bef. 2000. She married (3) HUSBAND PITTMAN aft. 1895. He was born bef. 1865, and died bef. 1975. Abt. September 1891, Mollie had typhoid fever when she was carrying twins that died & almost died too. "Tom Harrell helped a relative move from further North down into Georgia. They stopped at the Phillips home on the way down & he stopped on his way back home. He liked this young lady (Mary), wrote her, they corresponded, became engaged and married. They were married when she was 19 years old, and lived at first in a suburb of Chattanooga, where their first child (Moses Abraham) was born, abt March 1879. He was about a year old when they went to Texas, living first at Dekalb where their second child (Josephine) was born in the fall of 1880. They moved to Cuthand, Texas, and lost both children. Harrell was teaching school & left her & went up into the Indian territory until their 3rd child was born (Margaret), about May 1884 in Cuthand, Texas. Harrell came back and took them to Clarksville, Texas in the Spring of 1885. They were here when her sister, Nancy Jane, married Green Stuart and moved to Alvarado, Texas.
They moved to Fort Worth at the end of 1888 & had a grocery store at 15th & Lamar Streets. Then they built a home on Jones Street & lost the baby shortly after.
Tom was a member of the volunteer fire brigade & the carpenters' Knights of Labor. When he died, the entire volunteer fire brigade escorted his casket to his grave.
