1. JAMES R. "JIM" "Street" BARNETTE was born abt 1850, & died bef. 1943. He married (1) D. SHELTON. She was born abt 1849. He married (2) unknown CAPPS.
Jim lived in Northern Greenville County, around Cleveland, SC, near the river. He was one of the early supporters of New Liberty Baptist Church, according to Rev. Hester. He was said to have been married 4 times - his wives died & he remarried.

2. JOSEPH ELIJAH "JOE" BARNETTE (JAMES S. "JIM" BARNETTE) was born Sept. 18, 1872 in Greenville County, SC, & died July 9, 1946 in Greenville County, SC (at home). He married LULA TESSIE ORA HOWARD bef. 1905, daughter of ALEXANDER HOWARD and MARTHA ROCHESTER. She was born Feb. 16, 1878 in Greenville County, SC, & died April 11, 1953 in Greenville County, SC.

Abt. 1926: They moved to the Fairview Community
Both Joe and Lula are buried in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, SC

Joe's death notice was published in the Greenville News on July 10, 1946. He was survived by his wife, 4 sons, adopted daughter, brother (David), sister (Maria), 2 half-brothers (James Henry and Frank), 1 half-sister & 20 grandchildren.
Lula and Joe had a farm they rented from someone.

Lula's obituary was published in the April 12, 1953 edition of the Greenville News. She was survived by 4 sons & adopted daughter.

ii. HUEY BARNETTE, b. Nov. 30, 1901, Greenville County, SC; d. Feb. 15, 1971, Greer, SC. Huey married CLARA BELLE MASON; b. Nov. 12, 1899; d. Oct. 4, 1976.
Both Huey & Clara are buried at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (SC)
Huey's obituary was published in the Feb. 16, 1971, Greenville News. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

3. MARIA BARNETTE (JAMES S. "JIM" BARNETTE) was born Oct. 20, 1874 in Greenville County, SC, & died Jan. 23, 1959 in San Souci, Greenville, SC. She married ROBERT ANDERSON HESTER. He was born Oct. 21, 1865, & died Sept. 30, 1916.

Maria was buried January 1959, Enoree Baptist Church Cemetery . Her obituary appeared in the Jan. 24, 1959, Greenville News.
Robert was buried at Locust Hill.

4. DAVID W. BARNETTE (JAMES S. "JIM" BARNETTE) was born Sept. 7, 1876 in Locust Hill, & died Jan. 9, 1961. He married (1) SOPHIE HAWKINS, daughter of H. HAWKINS & JOSEPHINE POTTS. She was born Aug. 9, 1866 in Caesar's Head, SC, & died Sept. 14, 1964 in City View, Greenville, SC. He married (2) MOLLIE E. WILSON bef. 1906. She was born Jan. 8, 1884, & died Sept. 23, 1906.

David is buried at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Travelers Rest, SC. His obituary appeared in the Jan. 10, 1961, Greenville News. He was a carpenter.
Sophie is buried at Graceland Cemetery. Her obituary appeared in the Sept. 16, 1964, Greenville News.
Mollie is buried at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Travelers Rest, SC.

9. WALTER ELIJAH BARNETTE (JOSEPH ELIJAH "JOE", JAMES S. "JIM" BARNETTE) was born Sept. 10, 1904, & died May 9, 1943 in Taylors, SC. He married CALLIE LEE WILLIAMS. She was born Jan. 7, 1908, & died Nov. 21, 1998.

Having been ill for 11 weeks, Walter died at age 38. His obituary appeared in the May 11, 1943, Greenville News.
Walter & Callie are both buried at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, SC.

In 1959, Roy was pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, near Marietta, SC. Roy & Cora are both buried at Enoree Baptist Church Cemetery.
